Taiko, meaning “big drum” in Japanese, is a powerful art form that combines rhythm, movement, and energy. In this class, beginner and intermediate students will build a strong foundation in Taiko technique while experiencing the excitement of playing these large instruments. Participants will learn to use drumsticks called bachi with precision, developing timing, coordination, and physical stamina. Lessons focus on basic exercises, choreographed movement patterns, and the study of traditional and contemporary Taiko songs. Performance opportunities are available for those who wish to share what they have learned, making this a dynamic and rewarding way to connect with Japanese culture through music and movement.
